Wes Campbell Exhibition: A Retrospective

Habitat Uniting Church is holding a free exhibition of artist and theologian Wes Campbell’s paintings at SWell Centre in Hawthorn, Victoria.

Painting is an integral part of Wes Campbell’s identity as a preacher. When a theological student, Wes was particularly attracted to the works of Australian artists, such as Arthur Boyd, Sidney Nolan, Albert Tucker and Fred Williams. Later, Wes often drew on iconography, scripture and weekly worship themes – with subjects ranging from Advent, Transfiguration, Lent, Easter, and Pentecost. He also comments on current affairs, and paints floral and landscape works.
