University of Divinity seeks to appoint a Vice-Chancellor

Vice-Chancellor

  • AUSTRALIA’S LEADING THEOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY
  • UNIQUE COLLEGE STRUCTURE
  • EXCITING OPPORTUNITIES FOR GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT

The University of Divinity delivers education and research in theology, philosophy, and spirituality and for over one hundred years has prepared its graduates for ministry, leadership, and community service. Operating across Australia, it partners with over thirty churches, religious orders, and associated organisations in a unique ecumenical enterprise. It is regularly ranked by students as the top University in Australia for student satisfaction and learner engagement, reflecting the high quality of its curriculum and staff. Following the announcement that the University’s inaugural Vice-Chancellor, Professor Peter Sherlock, will step down in March 2024 after 12 years in the role, the University Council is seeking an appropriately experienced scholar to lead and guide the University.

The Vice-Chancellor is responsible for realising the mission of the University and for promoting the University’s progress, in collaborative partnership with the College Principals. Key to the role will be building strong and effective relationships with the University’s Colleges and developing the University’s resources through the expansion of its contributions to education, research and community engagement. From the Office of the Vice-Chancellor based in Melbourne, the Vice-Chancellor will ensure that the institution maintains its high academic standards and embraces future opportunities with a contemporary and strategic approach.

Candidates will have proven track record of academic leadership, possess strong communication and influencing skills and be committed to upholding the aims, objectives and values of the institution.  While their academic discipline background may be broad, what is essential is that they can represent the University at the highest level, both internally and externally, taking the institution to the next phase of its development.

For enquiries and to apply please contact Dr Rohan Carr or Ms Emily Witts at The Insight Group; phone +61 3 9654 3288; email applications@insightgroup.com.au

Applications close 6 November 2023.
