Congratulations to the Most Reverend Dr Phillip John Aspinall AC who has been recognised as a Companion in the General Division (AC) in the Queen’s Birthday 2021 Honours.

Dr Aspinall, who is a graduate of the University (Bachelor of Divinity, Melbourne College of Divinity 1988), received the honour for eminent service to the Anglican Church of Australia, to the development of ecumenical relationships and professional standards, and through commitment to social justice and welfare.

  • I was saddened to hear that Phillip Aspinall had accepted this honour, by his own account he stood by in Adelaide while Ian George his Archbishop in Adelaide continued to cover up abuse and deny victims truth. Whatever Aspinall has done since to warrant this honour is only what a competent person holding the positions he has should have.
If only he had the grace to understand that and the hurt this honour brings to all those he ignored in Adelaide.
