Jesuit College of Spirituality seeks Academic Dean

  • Key role in a growing College of Spirituality
  • Influence strategy and shape curriculum
  • Strong academic leadership focus

Previously known as the Sentir Graduate College of Spiritual Formation, the Jesuit College of Spirituality is an arm of the Australian Province of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) and one of eleven Colleges that make up the University of Divinity. As the only college within the University of Divinity that specialises in spirituality, within an Ignation framework, the College’s mission is to “enable creative leaders to transform the world”. Dedicated to educational excellence, the College offers a range of academically rigorous postgraduate awards in a supportive, faith based learning community.
Reporting to the Head of College and CEO, the Academic Dean will play a key leadership role as the College embarks upon an exciting phase of growth and development. Based at the College’s new premises in Parkville, you will blend your passion for teaching, research and publishing with a wider role developing the College’s curriculum, managing, coaching and developing teaching staff, and supporting the CEO in growing the business through carefully targeted marketing, PR and business development. You will collaborate widely across the sector to identify opportunities for new programs, and work closely with dedicated staff to build the identity and reputation of the College in both traditional and new markets.
Holding a PHD in Theology, Sociology, Spirituality or Philosophy, you may be an academic seeking a new opportunity to play a wider leadership role in an environment that will actively encourage creativity, innovation, collaboration and partnerships. A natural leader with a deep respect for the Jesuit values, you will bring to the role the unique ability to balance a quest for spiritual and educational outcomes with the commercial demands of an educational institution in an increasingly competitive environment.
