This webinar will explore the role of religious imagination in fostering equality, justice and inclusion. Join University colleagues Katharine Massam and Rebekah Pryor as they reflect with Helena Kadmos and Renee Kohler-Ryan in one of a series of events sponsored by the British Catholic weekly The Tablet in collaboration with the University of Notre Dame Australia.
The webinar flows from the new collection Tending to Stories: Interdisciplinary Renderings of Faith, Hope and Love to be published in September by Routledge. The book began at conference and art exhibition hosted over the referendum weekend in October 2023 by the Australian Collaborators in Feminist Theologies (ACFT) and Women and the Australian Church (WATAC). As chapters in the collection by First Nations authors Jennifer Rumbel and Naomi Wolfe demonstrate clearly, storytelling relates profoundly to the work of theology. Story has long been a site of struggle, sometimes reinforcing cultural norms but also definitively challenging and re-shaping them. The webinar will reflect on the conviction that the intersections of scholarship, faith and the creative arts offer new perspectives on Mystery and opportunities to build more compassionate and just spaces.
