This session explores why self-regulated learning (SRL) may be even more crucial than AI literacy for students in an AI-enhanced world. Dr. de Barba will present SRL as a cyclical process of planning, monitoring, and evaluating learning, discussing how strengthening students’ sense of self becomes essential when AI can handle many traditional tasks. The session will conclude with an open discussion where participants explore how to foster SRL development in their specific teaching contexts.

Senior Lecturer, Monash Education Academy
Dr Paula de Barba is a Senior Lecturer at Monash Education Academy and Monash Online with over 12 years of experience in educational psychology research. She holds a PhD from the University of Melbourne and specialises in student motivation and self-regulated learning in higher education, particularly in online environments.
