Teaching and Learning Webinar | Academic Scholarship Framework

Tuesday, 26 August, 2:00 pm3:30 pm AEST

Associate Professor Ardzejewska will discuss her framework of Scholarship and Scholarly activities and how academics can utilise this framework and evidence their scholarship in teaching and learning practices.

Consistent with TEQSA guidance, my colleagues and I set out to build a scholarship framework using Boyer’s (1990) multidimensional scholarship framework. Starting with a more integrated view of scholarship and reimagining the categories of Boyer, we created a model of scholarship that comes alive for the entire community of learners. The Academic Scholarship Framework places a strong emphasis on high quality discipline research outputs and educating for the common good. It encourages academics to integrate their role as expert and their role as a good citizen working in partnership with our students and communities for a better world. It is also provides the space for academics to participate in a growth model based on reflective practice and continual improvement and evidence-based practice. It outlines the work of the academic from established evidence of scholarship for higher education.

This session will provide an overview of the scholarship model.

It will enable academics to:

  • Discuss the breadth of scholarly practice in their institution
  • Apply the scholarship model to their practice
  • Meet TEQSA expectation regarding scholarship
