This session will explore the history of synodality in the Church beginning with early synods and ecumenical councils. Vatican II was the recovery of a “conciliar” ecclesiology, which, with Pope Francis and the Australian Plenary Council, developed into a new appreciation of synodality. Since his election, Pope Leo XIV has insisted that synodality is now “normative” in the Church.

Engaging Your Faith is a series of short, online presentations that invite participants to reflect on what it means to be people of faith in the contemporary world. Experienced academics from Catholic Theological College present on a variety of topics.
