Issued 1 September 2026
The Council of the University of Divinity has received advice from the Most Reverend Peter A. Comensoli, Archbishop of Melbourne and President of Catholic Theological College (CTC), that CTC is pursuing a relationship with Australian Catholic University. Under the terms of the College Agreement, CTC will conclude its tenure as a member College of the University of Divinity on 31 December 2028. This decision will bring an end to a successful partnership that commenced over fifty years ago.
The University of Divinity looks forward to engaging constructively with CTC stakeholders and staff through the next two years. Together, we will ensure that all current and future students associated with CTC continue to enjoy a rewarding and successful academic experience as they undertake their studies. During the period of transition and through the coming years, the University will continue to develop and explore new opportunities as a collegiate, ecumenical institution.
The University is deeply and actively committed to its unique ecumenical vision and affirms its dedication to learning across Christian traditions and to respectful theological dialogue. Collaboration across its diverse Colleges and communities is foundational to the University, both constitutive of its identity and integral to the future.
