2024 Northey Lecture with Amy Plantinga Pauw

On Thursday 8 July, Professor Amy Plantinga Pauw, from Louisville Presbyterian Seminary, delivered one of this year’s Northey Lectures hosted by Pilgrim Theological College.

Held at Brunswick Uniting Church, the topic of the lecture was Church in Ordinary Time: A Wisdom Ecclesiology, the title of her book published by Westminster John Knox Press in 2017. Prof Pauw’s thesis is that Wisdom theologies have been largely excluded from the church’s ecclesiologies.  Ecclesiologies informed by the Wisdom traditions of Job, Ecclesiastes and Proverbs equip the church for more fruitful encounters with religious pluralism and the realties of the climate emergency.
