The latest national Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) Student Experience Survey reveals that the University of Divinity is consistently rated among Australia’s top universities for entire educational experience.
The SES is part of the Federal Government’s Quality Indicator of Learning and Teaching (QILT) program and provides a national architecture for collecting data on key aspects of the higher education student experience. The survey assesses five key areas: Skills Development, Peer Engagement (previously called Learning Engagement), Teaching Quality and Engagement, Student Support and Services, and Learning Resources.
The 2024 Student Experience Survey, released on Wednesday 17 September 2025, shows that our continued emphasis on students at the centre of the educational environment produces a more positive overall learning experience. This outstanding result has been maintained for six of the past eight years, positioning the UD consistently at the forefront of Australian universities for student experience.
Professor James McLaren, UD Vice-Chancellor, said: “The outstanding results in the 2024 survey reflect the dedication and commitment of all staff to ensure students at the university are provided a dynamic and engaging learning experience. The results reflect the success of the consistent focus on encouraging and enabling students to develop their critical thinking skills in a constructive and supportive learning environment.”
At undergraduate level, UD achieved a rating of 92.0 per cent, over 3 per cent higher than any other institution and well above the national average of 76.4 per cent. The UD has maintained consistent undergraduate ratings of over 91 per cent for five of the past eight years, and a further year at 89.9 per cent- a remarkable achievement of which the University community is justifiably proud. UD undergraduate students valued access to Student Support and Services, and Learning Resources as the most positive areas.
At postgraduate level, UD students gave a positive rating of 88.0 per cent, again well above the national average of postgraduate level 75.6 per cent. UD postgraduate students valued access to Learning Resources and Teaching Quality and Engagement as the most positive areas.
Professor Albert Haddad, Dean of Academic Programs, said: “The University of Divinity students have expressed a great satisfaction in the way they learn, get supported and are engaged in deep thinking and skill development. This outcome reflects the relational teaching skills and commitment of our academic and administrative staff to the students and their learning experience at the university. This continues the excellent result that the UD students have given about their learning experience for the last eight years. Well done and thank you to all of our staff for the great results.”
