The Common Good Project August 2025 Roundtable event

The Religion and the Common Good Project is an initiative committed to researching the principle of the Common Good in Australia. In particular, we explore what diverse religious traditions understanding of the common good can contribute to Australian society and social cohesion, policy priorities and new forms of social partnerships.

The group’s first event was held on Monday 11th August 2025, at the University’s St Paschal Campus in Box Hill. Attendees included members of the ADvisory Group, the Research Team and invited guests. Presenters included Dr Ian Barns (Murdoch University, School of Sustainability), Dr James McEvoy (Australian Catholic University), Professor Sarah Shortall (University of Notre Dame), Professor Katharine Massam (University of Divinity), Professor Adrian Pabst (University of Kent), Professor James Chappel (Duke University), Naomi Wolfe (Australian Catholic University and University of Divinity), and Dr Daniel Sihombing (University of Divinity).
