This scholarship reflects General Eva Burrows commitment to advance social justice, education and the development of the next generation of leaders. The 13th General of The Salvation Army from 1986-1993 she was known as the “people’s General” for her ability to connect with the vulnerable in society and engage warmly with people of all backgrounds and ages. This scholarship ensures General Eva’s commitment and passion for education and the development of leaders will become a lasting legacy.
The 2025 Eva Burrows Australian Leadership Scholarship for Women will be awarded to a female who has undertaken substantial paid or unpaid work in the delivery of the mission of The Salvation Army in the previous two years and is seeking support to develop their leadership capabilities. A scholarship of up to $25,000 AUD, for study at Eva Burrows College (University of Divinity) or another institution, will be granted to a woman who exhibits General Eva Burrows values of leadership and commitment to serving on the frontline.

Applications for the 2025 Eva Burrows Leadership Scholarship open on Monday 7 July, until Friday 8 August 2025.
Why apply?
The successful applicant will receive one year financial support of up to $25,000 AUD for study at Eva Burrows College or another institution. The scholarship will cover education expenses towards the approved study and/or related travel, along with mentoring throughout their period of study.
