The Ethics of Drug Reform

Thursday, 19 June, 12:30 pm1:30 pm AEST

The Wesley Centre for Theology, Ethics, and Public Policy hosts monthly ‘Conversations that Matter’ that aim to put theology and ethics in conversation with issues that affect all of society.  Past conversations have covered the housing crisis, the ethics of voting, facing death in a death denying culture, and how Human Rights might be a framework for thinking about AI.

You are warmly invited to join us for the next conversation:

19th June, 12.30 – 1.30pm AEST at Wesley Place, 130 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne

The Ethics of Drug Reform with Adrian Webber (Uniting) and Dr Dan Fleming (National Director of Ethics for St Vincents).

In this session we will explore questions like – What are the ethical issues to consider when developing a response to drug addiction? Do safe injecting rooms really save lives? What difference would decriminalisation or legalisation make and what are the moral issues related to each? And, why not prohibition?

These events are free and open to the public.

The Wesley Centre creates pathways for scholars to bring their research into wider, public conversation. If you are working on something you think might make a good conversation topic, we’d love to hear from you.
