Are you an Evangelical Christian who can share your perspectives on child safeguarding in church?
You are invited to participate in a research project which is being conducted by Dr Kathleen McPhillips and Kelsey Fitz-Gerald from the University of Newcastle.
Researchers at the University of Newcastle are conducting a research project seeking the insights and perspectives of Evangelical Christians on child safeguarding in a church context.
Why is this research being done?
The care and safety of children in churches is an important issue around the world. Relatively little is known about how Australian Evangelical Christian communities understand children’s safeguarding needs following the recommendations from the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. We are conducting this research to understand the perspectives of safeguarding in church communities and to build a picture of child safeguarding across local Australian churches.
Who can participate?
This study is suitable for people who
- are over the age of 18 years
- have been, or are currently, involved in a local Australian church community
- identify as an Evangelical Christian
What do you need to do to participate?
Participation is voluntary and involves completing an online survey, and/or a one-on-one interview with the researcher, Kelsey Fitz-Gerald.
