On Friday 9th August 2025, Rev Dr Bruce Duncan CSsR of Yarra Theological Union was honoured with life membership of Catholic Social Services Victoria (CSSV) at the CSSV Annual Dinner. This award, which has only been presented seven times previously, recognises Bruce’s outstanding contributions to the sector.
Bruce has been a member of the Melbourne Catholic Commission for Justice, Development and Peace (1994-2007), and worked as a consultant with Catholic Social Services Victoria (1998-2007). He is one of the founders of the advocacy organisation, Social Policy Connections, and previous Director of the Yarra Institute for Religion and Social Policy. Bruce is a member the University’s Religion and Social Policy (RASP) network which succeeded the Yarra Institute. He has researched, spoken and published widely on Catholic social thought and social policy. Since 2016 Bruce has also been chaplain at the Aboriginal Catholic Ministry in Melbourne.
