ANZATS New and Emerging Scholarships Scholarships

Now open for applications (closes 13 December 2019).

NEW AND EMERGING SCHOLARS SCHOLARSHIPS and
ANZATS AWARD FOR NEW AND EMERGING SCHOLARS

The 2020 ANZATS Conference will be held in conjunction with the International Meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature. This promises to be an exciting event at which many overseas scholars will be present.

ANZATS is committed to supporting and encouraging new and emerging scholars in our discipline. To this end, in 2019 the Council established a New and Emerging Scholars stream for Conference papers. The inaugural stream held at Carey Baptist College in Auckland in July 2019 attracted a high number of quality papers.

Details of the New and Emerging Scholars stream for 2020 will be posted on the ANZATS website: https://anzats.edu.au/

In addition, the ANZATS Council is pleased once again to offer up to three scholarships to HDR candidates and doctoral graduates of the last two years. The scholarships are valued at $800 each (max) and will be awarded for papers that will be delivered in the stream at the 2020 Conference. Applicants must show evidence that they are currently enrolled in a Higher Degree by Research course at a member institution of ANZATS or have completed their doctoral degree at a member institution within the last two years.

The second ANZATS Award for New and Emerging Scholars will be presented at the Conference for the best paper from among those delivered by the scholarship winners. The paper will be considered for publication in the ANZATS journal, Colloquium.

New and emerging scholars are encouraged to submit a full paper to Myk Habets (mhabets@laidlaw.ac.nz) by 13 December 2019, and to indicate in their covering email whether they would like to be considered for a scholarship. They should also attach an academic reference from their supervisor or employer. An assessment panel will consider applications and report the winners of the scholarships by the end of March 2020.
