SUMMARY:Virtual Book Launch of "Chinese Christian Witness"
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to join a conversation about the new book\, Chinese Christian Witness: Identity\, Creativity\, Transmission and Poetics\, edited by Xiaoli Yang and Daryl Ireland. \nThis volume explores how Chinese Christians have understood and participated in mission over the past few centuries. Authors have written chapters on Orthodox\, Catholic\, Protestant\, Pentecostal\, and Chinese-initiated movements; they cover Chinese Christians in Oceania\, Africa\, Europe\, and Asia. For those interested in Chinese Christians in the People’s Republic of China\, the book includes chapters on both registered and unregistered churches. \nOne distinctive feature is that the book also considers multiple artworks by Chinese Christians: plays\, songs\, paintings\, sculptures\, etc. They provide an opportunity to discover Chinese missiology through understudied media. \nThe editors\, authors\, and artists are spread around the globe\, so the time of the book launch is presented here in multiple time zones. \n🌎 May 14 – 6:00 PM (Los Angeles) | 🌎 May 14 – 9:00 PM (Boston) | 🌏 May 15 – 9:00 AM (Beijing) | 🌏 May 15 – 11:00 AM (Melbourne) \nTo receive the Zoom link to the event\, you will need to register. You can do that here: https://www.bu.edu/cgcm/registration/ \nFor more information\, please see the flyer. We are excited to share a bit of what we have learned\, and to think together about what Chinese missiology means in this age of World Christianity. \nRegister for the book launch\n  \n \n  \nPublication Information\nChinese Christian Witness\nIdentity\, Creativity\, Transmission and Poetics \nVolume Editors: Xiaoli Yang and Daryl R. Ireland \nPublisher: Brill \nThis groundbreaking book brings Chinese missiology to the forefront\, offering a rare insider’s perspective on the rise of Chinese Christianity. It explores the diverse expressions of the missionary impulse that have driven Chinese Christians for centuries—across continents and theological traditions—to share their faith with remarkable dynamism and impact.
