SUMMARY:Book Launch | Sit by the fire again
DESCRIPTION:Sit by the fire again… this is our story too: a theological conversation about this country edited by Duncan Reid with\n\nSarah Eldridge\nTalitha Fraser\nDaniel Kisliakov\nNikolai Kostin\nGlenn Loughrey\nDuncan Reid\nJanet Turpie-Johnstone\nStacey Wilson\nTamara Witika\nNaomi Wolfe\n\n  \nA collection of essays arguing that Christian theology in Australia\, if it is to be fully authentic\, must hear Indigenous voices as integral. There are essays on this theme by non-Indigenous Australians\, a Russian philosopher of ethnology addressing question of Indigeneity more widely. Two essays by Māori scholars living in Australia address the idea being both Indigenous but living on stolen land. Four contributors are Indigenous Australian theologians reflecting on the situation for community after the unsuccessful 2023 Referendum. Poetry features in several of the chapters as the expression of primary emotional response calling the reader to deeper reflection. \n“Sit by the Fire again … pursues a heartfelt conviction. As a result\, (the book) has gathered a range of Indigenous and non-Indigenous voices for a conversation\, which is scholarly\, creative\, and surprising.”\n– Dr Steven Ogden\, Adelaide | Author Violence\, Entitlement\, and Politics (London: Routledge\, 2022) \n  \nEvent details\n23 August 2026\nStarts from 5pm \nSt George’s Anglican Church\, Travancore \nBook launch deal for $23 (cash only) \n
