DESCRIPTION:Engaging Your Faith Online Series\nMany people say (or fear?) that God and science don’t mix. In faith-based schools\, 60% of secondary students say Christianity and science conflict. This session is an introduction to the “conflict myth” and will offer some clues about how to understand the science–faith relationship as a harmonious one. \n(Note: this is a repeat of a session offered previously.) \nEngaging Your Faith is a series of short\, online presentations that invite participants to reflect on what it means to be people of faith in the contemporary world. Vatican II was the recovery of a “conciliar” ecclesiology\, which\, with Pope Francis and the Australian Plenary Council\, developed into a new appreciation of synodality. DESCRIPTION:Professor Tim Stacey\, Endowed Professor\, Liberal Religion and Humanism\, Univ. of Humanistic Studies\, Utrecht\, The Netherlands.  Author of Saving Liberalism from Itself: The Spirit of Political Participation (2022). \nProfessor Stacey’s work is primarily concerned with restoring faith in freedom and democracy. He has written extensively on the connection between postliberal political theology and emergent sources of solidarity among those taking action on social justice and the environment. Amidst ongoing threats to freedom and democracy\, he places theology into dialogue with sociology and anthropology to argue that we must see politics as an act of collective faith that is carefully and repeatedly reenacted.
