Year of Luke Study Day at Trinity College

A day for clergy and lay people to be enriched by the Gospel readings from Luke for the forthcoming Church year, and to explore some Old Testament themes as background to Luke’s theology.

The Day’s Leaders
The Revd Canon Professor Dorothy Lee is the Frank Woods Research Professor in New Testament at Trinity College Theological School.
Dr Carolyn Alsen lectures in biblical studies at Trinity College Theological School. She has experience in Bible translation as a linguist in Papua New Guinea, secondary religious education in an Anglican school and pastoral work in the Uniting Church and Anglican Church of Australia. She has studied at the Dead Sea Scrolls Institute of Trinity Western University in Canada and completed her PhD in Hebrew Bible at the University of Divinity, Melbourne.
The day will comprise sessions on Luke’s Gospel and on some themes found in the Old Testament readings used during the 2019 liturgical year. The theme of the Old Testament studies is “Stories of Old: How the Law, the Prophets and the Writings form a theological basis for Lukan theology. A preaching and devotional guide.”
