Webinar on Artificial Intelligence, ChatGPT and Theological Education at the University of Divinity

With the emergence of Artificial Intelligence tools, education and assessment methodologies need to change in order to ensure students are achieving their learning outcomes. Therefore, we as educators and education providers need to stay abreast of the emerging technologies and introduce appropriate principles, practices and policies to the University, academics and students.

ChatGPT has been the topic of discussion in the Australia media and amongst the academic circles. At the Academic Deans Forum of the University discussed the idea of having an open discussion session for all academic staff at UD regarding Artificial Intelligence in academia.

This topic is important to every academic at the University and therefore, the Dean of Academic Programs and Academic Deans of the University have decided to hold a webinar/workshop to discuss how we can proactively discuss Artificial Intelligence and Theological Education: Principles and Practices AI innovations. We are inviting academic staff and others at UD to participate. Any other interested professional is also invited to the webinar.

When: The online webinar is on 31 March, 2pm-4pm AEDT.

Intended Outcome: it is hoped that discussion and structured workshop activities will help us to come up with a shared set of principles and objectives necessary to respond, navigate, and utilise the AI tools in the teaching and assessment practices at the University.

Your invitation to participate: You are invited to express interest, individually or in a group, to share principles and propose future solutions and practices from your perspective and experience. Your inputs will add to others and together we will come out with an agreed position on this topic.

Artificial Intelligence and Theological Education: Principles and Practices

Dr Helen Gniel,  

Director, TEQSA Higher Education Integrity Unit  

In this webinar / workshop staff will be led by Dr Gniel on how we can proactively engage in Artificial Intelligence and Theological Education to create institutional principles and practices. Any other interested professional is also invited to the webinar.

Dr Gniel brings a wealth of experience to the role following a 20 year career in Australia’s higher education sector as a scientist, academic, and quality assurance professional.

Since 2018, Dr Gniel has served as the Senior Advisor, Quality and Standards at Monash University. Prior to her appointment at Monash, Dr Gniel worked as a Senior Assessment Manager at TEQSA and an academic at the Australian National University.

It is hoped that discussion and structured workshop activities will help us to come up with a shared set of principles and objectives necessary to respond, navigate, and utilise the AI tools in the teaching and assessment practices at the University.

This online event is aimed at University of Divinity staff.
