Knox Public Lecture 2023 Online | Truth and Peace: Timeless Twins

You’re invited to the 2023 Knox Public Lecture, “Truth and Peace: Timeless Twins,” Presented by Dr Susan Connelly RSJ on Tuesday 28 November at 7:30pm via zoom. Dr Susan Connelly, a Sister of St Joseph, will reflect on the critical challenges to truth telling in public life, in the light of Catholic social teaching on justice and peace.
This will mark the 60th anniversary of Pope John XXIII’s landmark encyclical on international peace, Pacem in terris
About the speaker
Dr Susan Connelly, a Sister of St Joseph, is an educator and activist who advises the Australian Bishops Commission for Social Justice. She has worked with the East Timorese people for almost 30 years in cultural support and justice advocacy.
Susan is the author of East Timor, René Girard and Neocolonial Violence: Scapegoating as Australian Policy (Bloomsbury, 2022) and her current concerns include the Australian espionage against Timor-Leste in 2004, the prosecutions of “Witness K” and Bernard Collaery, and the oppression of the people of West Papua.
